After harvesting the heads of millet or Japanese millet, they would be put in this bag and carried them home. When storing grain in warehouses, the grain was sometimes packed and stacked in these bags. These types of sacks were called ponsaranipu (small), isaroikipu (medium) saranipu, and then totta (large sack).
