Reproduction of Shigeru Kayano’s workplace

Shigeru Kayano, a native Ainu, among many things was a researcher with a Ph.D in Ainu culture. This is a reproduction of his workplace with a relaxing atmosphere. He worked as a director of this museum, a teacher of the Ainu language, a translator of the Ainu folktales and “Kamuy yukar” (heroic epics of Ainu), and a sculptor of the traditional crafts of Ainu. Many tools such as his carving tools, or equipment that he used are displayed here. His major books are are also dislplayed on the bookshelf.
